An official said that initial reports suggest that two persons on a motor cycle threw the grenade but it exploded short of their purported target—bunker manned by personnel of 136 battalion CRPF, causing minor splinter injuries to two civilians. Both the civilians identified as Amir Ahmad Lone son of Mohammad Abdullah and Shakeel Ahmad Lone son of Nazir Ahmad , residents of Natipora Sangam, were shifted to Sub District Hospital Bijbhera. Both of them have suffered minor injuries, sources said.

Soon after the attack whole area was cordoned off to nab the attackers.  However, when this report was filed no arrest were made.
