Srinagar, July 22: Weatherman on Friday forecast light to moderate rain at scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir.

A meteorological department official here said that rain in Jammu region was expected during forenoon and in Kashmir towards afternoon and evening.

He said rains lashed Jammu region and parts of Kashmir Valley in the last 24 hours till 0830 hours today with Jammu district recording 29.7mm followed by Katra with 23.0mm, Batote 10.4 mm, Banihal 8.6 mm Bhaderwah 2.7 mm, 0.6 mm in Gulmarg, 0.2mm in Qazignund and traces in srinagar.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures recorded a slight rise at most places in Kashmir Valley and Jammu division.

The MeT official said that Srinagar recorded a low of 21.9°C against 20.0°C on the previous night. The temperature was 3.2 °C above normal during this time of the year for the summer capital, the official said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 18.2°C against 19.9°C on the previous night. The temperature was 1.2°C above normal there, he said.

In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 16.3°C against 13.0°C on the previous night and it was 3.3°C above normal for the south Kashmir resort.

Kokernag recorded a low of 17.4°C against 18.9°C last night and it was 1.1°C above normal for the place, he said.

World famous Gulmarg resort recorded a low of 12.5°C against 13.6°C and it was 0.4°C above normal for the place.

Kupwara town saw a low of 18.2°C against 18.0°C on previous night and it was 1.2°C above normal for the place during this time of the season, the official said.

Jammu recorded a low of 24.6°C against 23.9°C on the previous night. It was 0.5°C ‘below’ normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 18.2°C, Batote 18.0°C, Katra 22.7°C and Bhadarwah 19.6°C, the official said.
