Srinagar: Police on Saturday closed a factory in Khonmuh area of Srinagar outskirts involved in illegal and unlawful activity of manufacturing and processing of Beer.

According to police spokesperson the action was initiated following  an information from ‘reliable sources that one factory registered in the name of M/S Zainab Textiles Phase 2 Khunmoh is involved in illegal/unlawful activity of manufacturing/processing of Beer.’

Accordingly the said factory was raided alongwith officials from excise department, Revenue department and Food department under the supervision of SDPO Panthachowk and SHO Panthachowk.

During search large quantity of beer bottles were recovered and seized on spot by the concerned officials. The machine used in the manufacturing process has also been seized.

In this regard case, FIR No. 64/2022 U/S 420,465,468 IPC and Excise Act 50 has been registered in Police Station Panthachowk and investigation set into motion.
