Srinagar, June 10: With overnight rains, the minimum temperature recorded a drop at most places in Kashmir Valley on Friday.

A meteorological department official here said Srinagar received 8.7 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours till 0830 hours today, mainly since last evening. During the time, he said, Qazgind received 4 mm of rain, Pahalgam 11.2 mm, Kupwara 0.6 mm, Kukernag 0.6mm and Gulmarg 8.2 mm. However rains eluded most parts of Jammu region with only Banihal in Ramban district receiving 1.4mm of rainfall, the official said.

Meanwhile, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 14.6°C against 15.4°C on the previous night, he said. The temperature, he said, was above normal by 0.3°C during this time of the year for the summer capital.

Qazigund recorded a low of 13.0°C against 11.2°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.1°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

Pahalgam recorded a minimum of 9.5°C against 7.1°C on the previous night. The temperature was 1.3°C above normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir during this time of the season, he said.

Kokernag recorded a low of 12.6°C against 13.2°C on the previous night. It was 0.5°C above normal for the place in south Kashmir during this time of the season, the official said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 4.8°C against 9.0°C on the previous night, the official said. While 8.8°C is normal for the world famous skiing resort during this time of the season, the official said that the temperature was 4.0°C below normal for the famous place in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of 12.5°C against 12.6°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.1°C below normal for the district, the official said.

Jammu recorded a low of 31.0°C against 27.3°C on the previous night, the official said. The temperature was 5.3°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 15.2°C, Batote recorded a low of 19.3°C while Bhadarwah had a minimum of 15.5°C, the official said.

“There is no forecast of any major rain this week,” said the official.
