Srinagar, May 31: Two militants of Jaish-e-Muhammad were killed in an overnight gunfight in Rajpora area of Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday, officials said.

The encounter had started last night when a joint team of police and army launched a cordon-and-serach-operation. The operation was suspended for night due to darkness, they said. With the first light of the day today, the encounter resumed in which two JeM militants–Shahid Rather of Tral and Umar Yousuf of Shopian—were killed. “Shahid was involved in killing of a woman Mst Shakeela of Aripal & a govt employee/ peon Javid Ahmed of Lurgam Tral,” IGP Kashmir said in a tweet.
