Srinagar, Mar 21: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday called for securing rights of traditional forest dwellers.
“It is important to ensure rights of traditional forest dwellers who have been residing in nature’s lap for generations are not infringed upon. We need to modernize Forest &Wildlife management system & also involve forest dwellers in social movement for conservation of environment,” Sinha said while attending the celebrations of the International Day of Forests. “Sustainable Forest Management and efficient use of its resources is the key to combat climate change and ensuring prosperous ecosystem for future generations,” he said in a tweet.
He said a sapling should be planted in every village in the name of a newborn girl child to create awareness among the present and future generations about the rights of daughters and awareness about natural heritage.
