3 CRPF Men Injured, Carpenter From Up Injured In Militant Attacks In South Kashmir

Srinagar, March 19: Three CRPF personnel were injured in two grenade blasts while a carpenter was shot at in south Kashmir on Saturday.

“During the evening hours, three (militant) incidents were reported from South Kashmir’s Pulwama, Shopian and Awantipora (police) districts. Senior police officers along with reinforcement reached at all the spots,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

In Pulwama,  he said, at about 2110 hours militant fired upon one non-local carpenter identified as Mohammad Akram son of Abdul Salam of Bijnor UP at Arihal Pulwama, he said. In this incident, he received gunshot injuries and was immediately shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar in a Critical Care ambulance with medical staff where he is being treated, he said.

In Shopian,  he said, at about 1950 hours militants lobbed a grenade on CRPF camp of 178Bn. In this incident one CRPF personnel received minor splinter injuries. He has been identified as Amit Kumar.

Meanwhile, in Awantipora area of Pulwma at about 1955 hours militants lobbed a grenade on CRPF camp of 180Bn at Nowdal Tral in which two CRPF personnel received minor splinter injuries.

“Police have registered cases regarding the incidents,” he said, adding, “Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances leading to these crimes.” The respective areas have been cordoned and search in these areas is going on, he said.
