Srinagar, Feb 23: As former Chief Minister and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah questioned the “sudden” hike in fare rates for cancelled flights and likened it as “day light robbery”, Airport Authority of India said options for refund and rescheduling at “no extra cost” has been offered by the airlines.

“The options for refund and rescheduling at no extra cost for all the flights cancelled today has been offered by all airlines. The affected passengers may please contact the respective airlines call centre for refund or rescheduling,” Airport Authority of India said in a tweet.

The AAI was responding to a tweet by Omar Abdullah: “This is how passengers to Srinagar are getting shafted by airlines – all flights got cancelled today & people who had paid ₹3000/4000 for their seats are told to rebook. Suddenly the same flights are being quoted at ₹12,000/₹14,000. Day light robbery & no government intervenes.”
