Record 74593 Covid-19 Tests Done In J&K Today: Officials

Srinagar, Jan 16: Authorities on Sunday said that record 74593 covid-19 tests were carried out on Sunday.

“J&K continues to implement an aggressive Covid Testing strategy. Highest  number of tests today: 74593. (Jammu: 34544, Kashmir: 40049),” Health Health & Medical Education Department J&K said in a tweet . “We appreciate the efforts of the Covid warriors!”

However it far lesser than target of 2 lakh tests set by the Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta on Wednesday last. Among others he had directed the authorities to immediately activate emergency control rooms and re-activate the panchayat-level isolation facilities to contain the rural spread of the disease.

The Chief Secretary had directed ramping up of testing facilities in J&K to conduct over 2 lakh daily tests in the coming days while maintaining the contact tracing ratio at 1:15.

Mehta was chairing the meeting of the Covid task force on Wednesday in which officials from different departments were present.
