Srinagar, Nov 23: Police on Tuesday claimed to have solved a case involving shooting dead of a salesman with Kashmir Pandit family by arresting three accused persons.
On November 9, Ibrahim Ahmad (Salesman at Sandeep Mawa’s Shop) near Bohri Kadal area of Srinagar was shot dead. Subsequently, police said, a case (FIR No. 86/2021) under relevant sections of law was registered at police station Maharaj Gunj and investigation was started, police said in a statement.
“During the course of investigation, officers learnt about the involvement of three accused persons identified as Aejaz Ahmad Lone, Naseer Ahmad Shah and Showkat Ahmad Dar, all residents of Lelhar Pulwama in the incident,” he said.
Subsequently, he said that the trio was arrested and during “questioning they confessed about their involvement.”
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested trio was linked with militant outfit LeT (TRF) and executed the attack on the directions of militant handler from across the border,” he said, adding, “It was further revealed that the arrested trio has been in touch with Pak based militant handlers for last 4 months.”
On their disclosure, he said, “weapon of offence”—pistol along with 7 rounds and other incriminating materials including a grenade have been recovered. Besides, he said, the Alto car which was used during the commission of crime on the day of attack has also been seized on their disclosure. “Further investigation in the case is in progress.”
