Birch Blasters Burzahama Lift Maiden JKPL-1 Title

Srinagar: Birch Blasters Burzahama won the maiden Jammu and Kashmir Premier League-1 tournament played at Green Valley Educational Institute  here on Monday.

The final was played between Ali Jana CC and Birch Blasters Burzahama. Birch Blasters Burzahama won the toss and elected to bat first. Birch Blasters Burzahama posted 212 runs. Waseem (55 of 24 balls) and Amir Sofi (34 of 17 balls) were the top run scorers for their team. For Ali Jana Cricket Club Shahrukh Dar and Aqib Mir took 2 wickets each. In reply Ali Jana Cricket Club fell short of 19 runs and lost the Grand Finale.  Aqib Mir (58 of 37 balls) and Junaid Mushtaq (45 of 28 balls) were the highest run scorers. Owais Baba bowled brilliantly and took 4 wickets. Owais Baba for his outstanding bowling performance was awarded as Man of the Match.

Director School Education, Dr Tassaduq Hussain Mir was the chief quest and handed over the main trophy to the winners and other awards.

Among others who graced the occasion and handed over the other awards to players for outstanding performance in various disciplines of the game included Prof Mohammad Aslam (former Dean School of language CUK), Dr Naved Nazir Shah (leading pulmonologist and head department of Chest Medicine at GMC Srinagar), Shafat Yehya (Joint Director Finance department), Majid Dar (caretaker Cricket Operations JKCA), Ghulam Hassan (Head Sales J&K/Leh Jai Beverages Pvt Ltd), Majid Ali Khan (Head Sales J&K/Leh Lays) and Vikrant Tagger (Ex- Ranji Trophy Cricketer). The award list is as follows:

BEST ALLROUNDER : SYED SAGAR (136 RUNS AND 14 WICKETS)
