Swimming, bathing banned in Nallah Madhumatti In Bandipora

Srinagar, June 10: Authorities in Bandipora district on Thursday ordered complete ban on swimming and bathing in Nallah Madhumatti with immediate effect till further orders.
“The flow in Nallah Madhumatti increases tremendously in summers and few people especially children venture out for swimming and bathing in the Nallah, thereby putting their lives to avoidable risk. This trend has resulted in loss of lives by drowning in the past,” Deputy Commissioner Dr Owias Ahmad said in an order.
“In view of the above, and as a precautionary measure to safeguard the precious lives, it is hereby ordered that there shall be complete ban on swimming/bathing in Nallah Madhumatti, with immediate effect, till further orders.”
The Deputy Commissioner has also directed Tehsildar (Executive Magistrate 1st Class), Bandipora, SHO Bandipora, Assistant Executive Engineer, I&FC, Bandipora, and Assistant Director, Fisheries, Bandipora, to ensure strict vigil alongside the banks of the Nallah Madhumatti and implementation the order in letter and spirit.
