Jammu-Srinagar Highway, Sonamarg-Gumari Road To Remained Closed Tomorrow

Srinagar, June 8: Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley and Sonamarg-Gumari road shall remain closed in view of maintenance and repairing of the thoroughfares, officials said.

“On 09-06-2021, no vehicular movement shall be allowed from either side on Jammu-Srinagar highway between Nashree and Jawahar Tunnel  in view of maintenance/repairing of the road,” a traffic department official said.

No vehicular movement shall be allowed from either side on Sonamarg-Gumari road in view of maintenance and repairing of Zoji la axis, the official said.

Regarding Mughal Road, commenting Shopian and Poonch districts, the official said that subject to fair weather and better road condition , only load carriers carrying fresh perishable, fruits, vegetables, and empty truck and tankers shall be allowed from Herpora (Shopian) at 0900 hours upto 1400 hours towards Poonch. “No vehicle shall be allowed after cut of timings. Moreover, no passenger vehicle or pedestrian shall be allowed on Mughal Road.”

He said Kishtwar- Sinthan road has been made operational between Kishtwar – Srinagar and vice-e-versa only for vehicles carrying patients for medical emergencies, subject to fair weather and road condition.
