Srinagar, June 01: Dr. A. G. Ahangar, Director SKIMS and Ex-Officio Secretary to Government, on Tuesday termed the administration’s decision to unlock as a “right decision”.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here, Dr Ahangar said that as everyone fully knows, “corona is to be faced by us”.
“Corona is not something which will vanish. At present, it is in the shape of pandemic, tomorrow it is going to take shape of endemic,” he said, adding, “With the decrease in positivity rate and developing of herd immunity, corona is going to live with us and we will live with it. As such we cannot remain under lockdown perpetually and somewhere we have to restore our economy, we have to start our educational system.”
Dr Ahangar, whose term as Director SKIMS Soura and Ex-Officio Secretary nears end pending extension by the government, said that both decision regarding the lockdown and easing or lifting it is weighed up by the government. “Both lockdown and withdrawing it have their importance in relevant times and allowing youth and people to earn livelihood, allowing industries to run is important.”
