‘Vaccine safe, imperative tool to combat pandemic’

KULGAM, MAY 28: Vaccination is safe and imperative tool to combat Covid-19 pandemic and people should get themselves vaccinated at an earliest without paying heed to rumours and fake news stated Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din-Bhat during a press brief here.
Addressing the media, the DC said that the coordinated efforts are showing positive results and the situation is improving day by day in the district with positivity rate and bed occupancy on decline across the district.
He said 65 percent of the population above the age of 45 years already stands vaccinated in the district and efforts are on to cover the rest of the target group. Besides, vaccination for the age group of 18-44 years will be initiated soon, he added.
With regard to availability of Oxygen in the district, Dr Bilal said that the 1000 lpm Oxygen generation plant at District Hospital is functioning properly and adequate bulk cylinders, concentrators are available in the district.
He said to curb the spread of virus there is a robust and aggressive testing mechanism in place across the district.
The DC said that in order to strengthen Covid care in rural areas Covid Care Centers (CCCs) with capacity of 5 beds have been made functional at 150 panchayats and these CCCs are equipped with Oxygen concentrators and other requisite equipment besides primary Covid related drugs have also been made available there.
He said the establishment of CCCs in the rest of the panchayats will be completed in the next few days.
Meanwhile, the DC appealed people to get vaccinated at an earliest besides strictly follow the Covid related SOPs and guidelines so that spread of this disease is curtailed further.
