8 chemist stores sealed for ‘violating norms’ in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, MAY 15: The Deputy Commissioner/ District Magistrate Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today ordered for immediate suspension of operations of 8 Chemist Shops in Srinagar for contravention of  rules like absence of qualified persons, not maintaining sale purchase records, unhygienic conditions, cold storage drugs not maintained properly, records of psychotropic drugs not maitained in violation of norms and etc.

The Deputy Commissioner passed the directions while conducting surprise inspection of chemist shops in various areas of Srinagar City.

The 8 chemist  shops whose operation has been suspended for 5 days from May 15 to May 19, 2021 include Lutfan Medicate Kaksarai, Medlife Chemists and Druggists Kaksarai, New Light Medical Hall Kaksarai, Cooperative Medical Store SMHS hospital, Metro Professional Pharmacy Rainawari, K. I. Medicate Rainawari, Biocare Medicate Rainawari and New Health Zone Rainawari.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has asked all Chemists operating in Srinagar to adhere to the laid down norms strictly. Any attempt at overcharging shall lead to initiation of criminal proceedings. He also urged general public to lodge complaints in case they face any grievances in purchase of Medicines at the COVID-19 war room contact Nos. of DDMA Srinagar.
