Light late afternoon rain forecast in Kashmir, Pirpanjal range

Srinagar, April 28: Weatherman has forecast very light rain or thundershowers in Kashmir and Pirpanjal range towards afternoon in next few days, officials said on Wednesday.

“While main dry weather is expected, there is possibility of isolated very light rain/thundershowers in Kashmir and Pirpanjal range towards late afternoon,” a meteorological department official said.

He said Srinagar recorded a low of 10.2°C against 9.0°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.9°C above normal for this time of the season in the summer capital of J&K, he said.

Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of 7.7°C against previous night’s 6.6 which was below normal by 0.1°C, the official said.

Mercury settled at 4.9°C against 4.0°C on the previous night in Pahalgam. The temperature was above normal by 0.5°C during this time of the season in the famous tourist resort in South Kashmir, he said.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 7.6°C against normal of 7.2°C and last night’s 7.2°C, the official said.

Kupwara recorded a low of 5.5°C against 5.1°C on the previous night which is below normal by 2.3°C for this time of the season in north Kashmir district, the official said.

Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, recorded a low of 5.0°C against 4.0°C on the previous night, the official said.  It was 0.8°C below normal in the resort, the official added.
