Over 1700 Codeine Bottles Of Codeine Dumped In 7-Ft Pit Recovered In Anatnag: Police

Anantnag, April 7: Police on Wednesday said that more than 1700 bottles of Codeine, “dumped in a 7-ft pit in a kitchen garden”, were recovered in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.
“Police party from Police Station Bijbehara established Naka at Tulkhan crossing and apprehended two persons namely Lateef Ahmad Shah son of Mohammad Qasim Shah and Azad Ahmad Shah son of Mohd Shaban Shah, both residents of Nambal Mattan with 15 Codeine bottles,” a police official said.
In this regard, he said, a case (FIR no 64/2021) under relevant sections of law was registered in police station Bijbehara.
“Upon questioning they revealed that they have bought this from the house of one namely Ghulam Hassan Dar of Tulkhan Bijbehara,” he said.
Subsequently, a police team rushed to the location and started searching the house, he said.
“During the searches 1715 bottles of Codeine were recovered from a dumped pit around 7 feet deep near the kitchen garden.”
