Srinagar, March 11: A railway police constable was killed in a hit-and-run accident at Qazigund in South Kashmir, official said.

They said that the constable Pervaiz Ahmad Kohli son of Saifdin Bhat of Hutmura Mattan was hit by an unknown vehicle at Damjen area and he died on the spot. The constable was posted at Sadoora railway track. “The driver escaped from the spot along with the vehicle after hitting the constable,” they said.

Meanwhile, the body of the constable was brought to emergency hospital Qazigund for legal formalities.

Police has filed a case under IPC sections of 279 (rash driving), 304A (causing death by negligence) and further investigation taken up. Confirming it, SHO Qazigund Irshad Ahmad told INS that investigation has been set into motion.
