Ali stood next to Congress candidate Taj Mohi-ud-Din who was the nearest rival of Shafi in Uri assembly constituency.
Accusing party leadership of ignoring him, Ali said that his growth in the party was curtailed and he was not politically empowered.
“It was my personal effort in last assembly elections that I bagged 19000 votes in Uri, a place where PDP used to get not more than 1200 votes. However, despite my hard efforts I was side lined in the party,” Ali said.
