Srinagar, March 10: One unidentified militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter at Kanidpora area of Bijbhera in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday.
The operation was suspended late last night due to darkness and resumed with the first light of the day.
The encounter had ensued after joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Kandipora village amid specific information about the presence of the militants, officials said.
As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering off the gunfight, they said. Internet services in the south Kashmir continue to be suspended since the start of the gunfight on Thursday evening.
