Bandipora, Feb 13: People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) on Saturday bagged the chairperson and vice-chairperson posts of the District Development Council (DDC) Bandipora in north Kashmir.
Official sources said that PAGD candidate Abdul Gani Bjhat was elected as chairperson while Kounser Shafeeq as Vice-Chairperson. They said that Bhat from National Conference got seven votes against six votes polled by the nearest rival candidate—Firdous Akhtar for the post of chairperson. Similarly, they said, Kounser Shafeeq of PDP polled 8 votes and runner up candidate, Tahir Gani, got five votes.
NC and PDP are key constituents of the PAGD, an amalgam of six political parties seeking restoration of the special Constitutional status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370.
