Srinagar, Jan 27: Three soldiers were injured in “what appears to be an improvised explosive device” blast triggered by militants in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, a senior police officer said on Wednesday.
In a first militant attack this year, three soldiers were injured, one of them seriously, in Shamsipora area along the Srinagar-Jammu highway in the Kulgam district. The blast took place near a school when the army was passing through the area, the sources said. They said the school building also suffered substantial damage in the blast.
“It appears to be an IED blast but investigations are underway and details would be shared in due course of time,” the police officer said
While the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers, sources said that SSP Kulgam along with other officers and experts are visiting the spot.
