Dr Naveed, Farooq Ahmad Wani Among R-Day Awardees In Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 25: Dr. Naveed Nazir, Prof and Head Pulmonary Medicine, Government Medical College, Srinagar was among five persons who have been awarded for meritorious public services on Republic Day.
Prof. Shiv Datt Nirmohi (Writer) was conferred the lifetime achievement award while Farooq Ahmad Wani, Journalist and Editor Brighter Kashmir, was awarded outstanding media person.
Besides Dr. Naveed Nazir, who remained at the forefront of the fight against covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, the four others conferred the award for meritorious public services include Dr. A.D.S. Manhas, Medical Officer, National Health Mission; Riyaz Ahmad Mir, Senior Grade Nurse, Chest Diseases Hospital, Srinagar; Ms. Kanta Devi, Senior Staff Nurse, Government Medical College and Jammu and Health & Medical Education Department.
Rafiq Raaz (Poet) was awarded for Achievements in the field of Literature while Late Mr. Shadi Lai Koul (Actor) was posthumously awarded for presuming Arts. Sajad Hussain Dar (Paper Machie Craft) was awarded for Excellence in Arts and Crafts.
Sandeep Singh (Mountaineer) and Kabra Altaf (Judo) were awarded for outstanding sports persons while Suraj Kumar Bansal, Chairman/ Managing Director, Saraswati Group of Companies was awarded for Outstanding Industrial Entrepreneurship
All the awardees barring the one for Lifetime Achievements will get a cash award of Rs 51,000, a medal, and a citation. Award for lifetime achievements carries cash award of Rs one lakh, a medal and a citation.
