Gulmarg: Islamic Fraternity (IF) concluded its winter Da’wah programme on Saturday at famous tourist resort-Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The programme, which lasted for 10 days from December 24, 2020 to January 2, 2021, is being organized every year in Gulmarg to spread the message of Islam among the non-Muslim tourists visiting the hill-resort.
More than 30 volunteers and Da’ees, who had come from multiple Kashmir districts, joined the programme and held interactions with hundreds of non-Muslim tourists about Islam and other religions.
They served them with complimentary cups of famous Kashmiri Kehwa and gifted them the Hindi, English and Gujrati translated scripts of Holy Qur’an for further knowledge and understanding of Islam. The non-Muslim tourists gladly accepted the Scripts of Qur’an and thanked the volunteers for their hospitality.
Renowned scholar and speaker from Mumbai, Dr. Shuaib Sayyed was specially invited by the organization and remained part of the programme till end. He spoke at several small gatherings of non-Muslim tourists and invited them to the folds of Islam.
President Islamic Fraternity, Muhammad Aamir, said that the programme was the part of big initiative taken to clear the misconceptions about Islam and to spread the true word of Islam among the non-Muslims.
“The Daw’ah programmes (by IF) are mostly organized at places which attract heavy rush of outside tourists. For winters, we choose Gulmarg and for summer programmes, we choose Pahalgam and Sonamarg (areas of Islamabad and Ganderbal districts),” he said.
Aamir said that more than two thousand tourists tasted their Kashmiri Kehwa and a good number of them took Islamic literature, including Holy Qur’an scripts and small pamphlets with verses and translated Ahadeeth written, with them.
After invitation by Gulmarg Mosque Committee, a Friday sermon was also delivered by Aamir where he emphasised on the character of Muslims and appealed people to be the role models and messengers of Islam.
On the sidelines of the programme, a small ceremony was organized to launch new printed version of translated Qur’an. The ceremony was attended by guests and other IF members which include, President of Auqaaf Committee Jamia Masjid Gulmarg, Mr. Bakhshi, Imam and Khateeb of Jamia Masjid Gulmarg, Moulana Yaseen Qasmi, former SSP, Mr. Ali Muhammad Shah, former Joint Director Technical Education, Syed Muhammad Taha Andrabi, Senior Member of IF from Central Kashmir, Mr. Hayat Ahmad and Mr. Muzafar Ahmad, an active Da’ee associated with IF from North Kashmir.
Besides, an ambulance was kept ready for tourists and other critically ill patients by Islamic Fraternity to meet any emergency situation.
IF President thanked the administration, Auqaaf Committee Jamia Masjid Gulmarg and locals for wholehearted support and cooperation during the entire Da’wah programme.
