Gunfight Starts In South Kashmir’s Shopian District

Srinagar, Dec 25: A gunfight has started between militants and government forces in Kanigam village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.
Reports said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Kanigam.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
“Encounter has started at #Kanigam area of #Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” police said in a tweet.
