Srinagar, Nov 10: A gunfight started between militants and government forces in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.                                Reports said that a joint team of Police, army’s 34RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Katopra village of the district.  As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight. A senior Police officer said that after intial exchange of fire, the firing  stopped as Senior officers of police, Army and family members of militants are trying to persuade the hiding militants to surrender.
