Srinagar, Nov 10: Two militants were killed in an ongoing gunfight in Katpora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.
A senior police officer said two militants the identity of the slain militants was being ascertained.
The militants, he however said, were part of a group responsible for looting JK Bank van recently in the south Kashmir district.
The encounter had ensued after a joint team of Police, army’s 34RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Katopra village of the district. As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight. The Police officer said that militants turned down the offer of surrender.
