Srinagar, Oct 26 : One militant was killed in a gunfight while another surrendered before a joint team of forces in Noorpora area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar told a local news agency that one militant was killed in initial exchange of firing, while the second militant who was trapped inside the encounter site agreed to surrender after hectic persuasion by the police and army.
Last week two newly recruited Al-Badr militants had surrendered in Sopore.
The encounter at Tral ensued after joint team of Police and army’s 42RR launched a cordon and search operation in Noorpora area.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.
