J&K RTI Foundation Stages Protests In My Town My Pride Event At Magam

Srinagar, Oct 20: J&K RTI Foundation staged a protest at Municipal Committee Magam in My Town My Pride Event today. It was a peaceful silent protest against whole district administration which has failed to provide solution for disposal of tonnes of garbage collected daily from Magam Market.
Founder J&K RTI Foundation Engineer Irfan Banka who was leading the protest said that J&K RTI Foundation aims at restoring the original condition of River Ferozpora. Municipal Committee Magam has been dumping tonnes of solid wastes in River Ferozpora on a regular basis which has affected more than a dozen villages’ who drinking its water towards downstream side. Doors of every office were knocked and even Lieutenant Governor has been apprised about the pollution of this water body but unfortunately nothing has been done so far.
Save River Ferozpora Movement appealed the Lieutenant Governor’s Administration to look into the matter seriously and book all culprits who are responsible for providing NOC to Municipal Committee Magam for disposing solid wastes in River Ferozpora which is an offence under Environment Laws. The scientific disposal of solid wastes has become a burning issues in all the municipalities of J&K and hence must be given priority.
