Srinagar: People in Rawalpora area of Srinagar on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration against ‘unjustified” beating of two local youth by soldiers who were deployed there.

Reports said that the locals blocked the road at main chowk Rawalpora after two local youths—Shahid Ahad Bhat and Aqib Ashraf Dar—were beaten by the soldiers deployed near the Rawalpora bridge.

The locals said that action by the army was unjustified and that there should be action against the soldiers who beat up them “mercilessly”.

Defence spokesman here Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that he was ascertaining the details about the incident.
