Gunfight starts in Kreeri Baramulla

Srinagar, Aug 22: A gunfight started between militants and a joint team of police, CRPF and army at Check-i-Saloosa area of Kreeri in Baramulla district.
Official sources said police, army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles and 176 battalion CRPF launched the joint cordon-and-search operation in the area about the presence of militants in the area. As they reached a suspected spot, officials said that the joint team came under fire from militants hiding in the area. The fire, they said, was retaliated, triggering off an encounter. When this report was filed, the firefight was going in the area.
