Anantnag: BJP General secretary district Anantnag and J&K secretary of Shree Amarnath Yatra Welfare Society Mohd Sikandar Wani on Saturday expressed serious concern over the plight of transporters whose livelihood has been worst hit since August last year.
A delegation of drivers union association met the secretary here in the party office of South Kashmir’s Anantnag District, and informed him about the loss suffered by them from the past one year, according to statement.
Wani said that the public transport sector has come to a standstill from last one year in Kashmir.
“Last four months of covid 19 lockdown has also added to the sufferings of this sector to an extent that people associated with this sector are not to position to feed their families,” he said.
During the meeting Wani assured the delegation that he will take up their demand with higher ups. He also requested the Lieutenant Governor to look into the matter and provide the financial assistance to transporters as soon as possible.
