Elderly Tangmarg Man Dies, J&K Covid-19 Toll Mounts To 195

Srinagar, July 14: A 60-year-old man from Tangmarg area of Baramulla district died at a hospital here on Tuesday afternoon, taking the fatality count due to the virus in J&K to 195.
Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura said that the sexagenarian had “bilateral community acquired pneumonia (CAP) with ARDS with BHP”.
“The patient was admitted in medical emergency on July 13 as a suspected case. His sample was taken on the same day. The patient was very sick and expired on July 14 at 4:00 a.m.,” he added.
So far 195 people have died in Jammu and Kashmir and include four persons who died earlier today and three others including a paramilitary CRPF trooper posted in Baramulla and two elderly women from south Kashmir who tested positive for covid-19 posthumously, officials said.
Medical Superintendent SMHS Hospital Dr Nazir Choudhary said that a test report of a 35-year-old paramilitary CRPF trooper from 66th Battalion Baramulla returned positive for the covid-19, a day after his death.
A resident of Nowshera Rajouri, the tricenarian was suffering from high fewer and pneumonia, he added.
Meanwhile, Dr Majid Mahrib, Medical Superintendent GMC Anantnag, said that two women, both aged 60-years, from Semthan Kulgam and Anantnag died at the hospital on July 10 and their bodies were handed over to the families as per the new protocol. “Their samples returned positive late last night,” he added.
Earlier, a 65-year-old covid-19 patient from Shopian district died at SKIMS Bemina hospital here, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the covid-19 patients
Confirming the death, Dr Shifa Deva, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Bemina said that the sexagenarian man was admitted to the hospital on July 10.
“He already had Coronary bypass surgery and was also suffering from pneumonia. He died today,” she added.
Also, a 47-year-old agriculture officer from Jammu’s Talab Tillo died at Government Medical College Jammu, two days after he tested positive for the covid-19.
Principal GMC Jammu Dr Nasib Chand Digra said that the man was admitted to the hospital on July 12 and was put on ventilator last night. “He died (at 7: 40 a.m.) today,” he said.
A senior doctor at GMC Jammu said that the 47-year-old, Agriculture Officer at Directorate of Agriculture Talab Tillo Jammu, was suffering from bilateral CAP, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and hypertension.
“He had high grade fever and cough. He remained on oxygen since the time of admission,” the doctor added.
Prior to him, a 60-year-old covid-19 patient from Nadihal area of Baramulla district died at SKIMS Soura, nine days after he was admitted to the tertiary care hospital.
“He was a case of HTN, T2DM, CKD, ESRD, (bilateral community acquired pneumonia (CAP),” Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, said. “He expired at around 4:00 a.m. today,” Professor Jan added.
With these deaths, 177 people in Kashmir and 18 in Jammu have died so far due to the covid-19.
Srinagar district with 46 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla (37), Kulgam (22), Shopian (17), Anantnag (15), Budgam (14), eleven each in Jammu and Kupwara, Pulwama (6), Bandipora (3), Ganderbal (4) and Doda (2) while one death each has been reported from Poonch, Udhampur, Rajouri and Kathua.
