Srinagar, July 13: A militant was killed in a gunfight with a joint team of police, army, and CRPF in Srigufara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday, police said.
“One unidentified militant has been killed while the operation is going on. Further details will follow,” a police official said. A woman was also injured and who and under what circumstances she suffered the injury could not be ascertained immediately.
The gunfight had ensued after a joint team of Police, Army’s 03 RR and E/116 of CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Srigufara.
As the joint team reached near the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
