Srinagar, July 13: Two militants were killed in gunfight with joint team of police, army and CRPF in Srigufara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday, police said.
“Two militants have been killed. Searches going on,” a police official said.
Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said that among slain militants includes a Pakistani resident affiliated with Jash-e-Mohammad. A woman was also injured in the gunfight and how and under what circumstances she suffered injuries could not be ascertained.
The gunfight had ensued after a joint team of Police, Army’s 03 RR and E/116 of CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Srigufara.
As the joint team reached near the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
