Srinagar, July 07: One militant and an army soldier were killed while a policeman was injured in gunfight in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
Official sources said a joint team of Police, Army’s 53RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Goosu village amid inputs about the presence of the militants.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter. In the initial firing, an army trooper and cop were injured and were shifted to hospital. However Army soldier succumbed to his injury. Subsequently, they said, one militant was also killed. When last reports came in, the gunfight was going on.
