Srinagar, July 5: Police on Sunday claimed to have averted a “major IED blast”, hours after a similar “low intensity” explosion injured a paramilitary CRPF trooper in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
“Yet again a major incident of #IED blast is #averted by the timely input and action by Pulwama Police, CRPF and Army near Peaks Automobile crossing Pulwama. IED diffused safely,” police said.
Earlier, a paramilitary CRPF trooper was injured in a “low intensity” improvised explosive device explosion, suspected to be triggered by militants, at the same place.
Officials said that the explosion took place near Peaks Automobiles in Gongoo area of the district.
“A low intensity IED blast occurred at Pulwama. One CRPF personnel suffered injuries in his hands and is stable,” a police official said. “The senior officers are on the spot. Further details shall follow.”
