Militant ‘Involved’ In June 26 Bijbhera Attack Killed In Malbagh Srinagar

Srinagar, July 03: Nearly a week after police claimed his involvement in an attack in Bijbhera in which a CRPF trooper and a minor boy were killed, Zahid Daas, a militant of JKIS was killed in a gunfight in Srinagar outskirts last night, IGP Kashmir said.
The encounter between militants and a joint team of police and CRPF took place in Malbagh area of the Srinagar on Thursday evening.
“Killer of JKP & CRPF personnel at Bijbehara Anantnag and one 6 years old boy, (militant) Zahid Daas killed in yesterday’s encounter at Srinagar. Big success for JKP & CRPF: IGP Kashmir (Vijay Kumar),” police said in a tweet. A paramilitary CRPF trooper was also killed in the gunfight, as per the police.
Only a few hours after the attack on June 26, police took to its twitter handle claiming involvement of Zahid Daas, “a militant of JKIS outfit” in the attack and said that an FIR has been registered against him “by name”.
Daas’s two associates were killed in a gunfight with joint team of police, army’s 33 RR and CRPF at Waghama Bijbhera.
The killing also takes the number of militant casualties to 119 this year in Jammu and Kashmir, mainly in the Valley.
