Rains Bring Mercury Down In Kashmir Valley

Srinagar, May 31: Rains continued in Kashmir, including the summer capital here, on Sunday, bringing down mercury considerably across the Valley.
An official of the Meteorological (MeT) department said that Srinagar received 6.7mm of rainfall from 0830 to 0630 hours and recorded a maximum temperature of 16.6 as against 22.2 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
He said Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district received 17.6mm of rainfall, highest during the time, in any other part of the Valley.
South Kashmir’s Kokernag, and Pahalgam in Anantnag district, received 2.4mm, while the neighboring Qazigund received 2.3mm and Kupwara in north Kashmir 10mm rainfall, he said.
