Srinagar: Expressing gratitude to Governor Satya Pal Malik for approving Flood Management Program, the former Commissioner Secretary PHE & Flood Control and now National Conference leader Farooq Ahmad Shah Wednesday said that he was happy that the project which was prepared by webcos ( a sister concern of ministry of Water resources in GOI) during his tenure as Commissioner Secretary PHE and I&FC, has been accepted and approved by the Governor Administration paving way for a huge flood management in the Valley.
The former bureaucrat who actually got the multi thousand crore project finalized as Commissioner Secretary PHE and I&FC before opting for voluntary retirement earlier this year, said that the project was aimed for better flood management in the valley which would help the department to prevent 2014 like catastrophe in future.
During his visit to Shrai, Tangmarg where a bridge was washed away in last week’s flash floods, Shah said that Ferozpora Nalah has got a considerable chunk of funds in the programme which would ensure the safety of all areas situated alongside the Nalah from Tangmarg to Hanjiveera. He said 80 crore rupees have been earmarked for the Nallah in the programme.
Farooq Shah expressed gratitude also to Governor’s Advisor K. K Sharma, Chief Secretary Subramunium, Commissioner Secretary PHE Ajeet Sahu and Chief Engineer I&FC Kashmir, Sharma for the remarkable decision and hoped that the work on the project shall be started very soon.
Meanwhile Shah also visited khore, sheerabad, kongamdara and other flash flood areas and interacted with the people.
In the meantime, many political workers including a DPN block President Ghulam Ahmad Darhami along with many workers have joined National Conference in Shah’s presence.
