Banihal, May 29: A number of shops were gutted in a fire incident in Kaskoot Banihal in Ramban District on last night, reports and officials said on Friday.
The fire broke out in a shop at Kaskoot village, 2 kilometers from Banihal town, around 1: 30 a.m. and it engulfed some other shops in the vicinity. However, timely action of fire and emergency services and police averted a major tragedy as the fire occurred in the densely-populated market and most of the structures are made of dry cedar and pine wood. Officials said efforts are underway to ascertain the cause of the fire.
