While addressing the press conference, S. Ajit Singh, Chairman of the Sikh Coordination Committee Jammu Kashmir, highlighted the committee’s commitment to address the concerns and issues faced by the Sikh community in the region.

He said, established under the guidance of Mahant Manjit Singh, Chief of Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch, the Sikh Coordination Committee comprises eminent figures from various sectors within the Sikh community, including academicians, bureaucrats, businessmen, technocrats, and social activists.

“Since its inception, the committee has been actively engaged in advocating for the resolution of key issues affecting the Sikh community. Among the notable achievements of the Sikh Coordination Committee, are the successful advocacy for the implementation of the Anand Marriage Act in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and the installation of the statue of Baba Gurbaksh Singh ji (Baba Banda Singh Bahadur ji),” shared S Ajit Singh, adding that the committee is also accentuating issues pertaining to the community time to time.

He asserted that besides highlighting social problems being faced by the community from any corner of the Jammu and Kashmir, the committee is also striving to take these issues at appropriate platforms for the redressal of these issues.

“In a bid to further strengthen presence and extend of the Sikh Coordination Committee, especially to the grassroots levels, it was unanimously decided to augment the team by including members from diverse backgrounds and constituting units and sub-units in all districts of the Jammu and Kashmir UT,” said S Ajit Singh, adding that considering the amount of feedback received from the community members from far flung areas, it was also decided to expand core committee.
