Srinagar: Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only road link connecting Kashmir Valley with the outside world, reopened for traffic and stranded vehicles, almost 2000 of them including trucks were allowed on priority, officials said on Friday.
The Highway was closed for traffic on Thursday afternoon after massive landslides near Panthyal along the highway. Around 2000 vehicles, mainly trucks, were stranded between Ramban and Jawahar Tunnel due to the closure, they said.
A senior traffic police official said that the strategic thoroughfare was restored in the morning and stranded vehicles were cleared on priority.
