Covid-19 Claims 55-Year-Old Man, J&K Toll Rises To 17

Srinagar: A 55-year-old man was claimed as 17th victim by the novel coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.
Dr G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer Coronavirus control measures at SKIMS Soura, said that the man from Rafiabad, who was suffering from malignancy, died at the tertiary care hospital this morning. With the death, the overall fatality count due to the dreaded disease has gone upto 17 in J&K—15 in Kashmir and two in Jammu. The middle-aged person’s death comes a day after the Valley saw highest single-day spike in deaths with three elderly patients, all from south Kashmir, becoming victims of the deadly disease.
The Srinagar district has reported 5 of the deaths, highest in any district, followed by Baramulla 4, Anantnag 3 while one death each has been reported in Bandipora, Budgam, Kulgam, Udhampur, and Jammu.
