Srinagar: The mobile internet services remained barred for the second consecutive day in Budgam district on Thursday following the killing of a youth in CRPF firing near Kawoosa crossing on Srinagar-Gulmarg road.
While police and CRPF said that the 25-year old Mehraj-u-din son Ghulam Muhammad of Makhama Beerwah Budgam was fired upon after he jumped two nakas, the family rebutted the claim, terming it a cold-blooded murder. The deceased’s uncle, an Assistant Sub-Inspector in J&K Police– who was accompanying the youth was injured in the firing and is being treated at SMHS Hospital. “Mehraj was shot from point-blank range,” he had said. The killing has also led to protests in Beerwah.
Meanwhile, the internet services stopped following the killing of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo and his associate at Beingpora Awantipora on May 6, have been restored in Pulwama and Shopian districts.
