Srinagar: Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah termed the killing of a civilian by paramilitary CRPF near Kawoosa Narbal as “very unfortunate” and demanded an impartial investigation into the “circumstances surrounding this shooting.”
“Very unfortunate. The circumstances surrounding this shooting need to be impartially investigated & findings made known. My condolences to the family of the deceased,” Omar said in a tweet.
Meanwhile strongly condemning the killing of the civilian, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) vice president and former MLC G N Monga said that the “BJP government’s policy revolves around the use of bullets and force only.”
In a statement issued here, Monga while expressing shock and grief over the civilian killing said, “Justifying the killing of an innocent civilian on the pretext that he had jumped security checkpoints is unfortunate. There are barricades everywhere in Kashmir these days and even if the claim of the police is true, the youth could have been intercepted at the next barricade without firing at him.”
Killing of civilians in is a cause of concern for every right thinking person in the country, he said. “For how long this Government will control the situation in Kashmir by killing young boys. Due to the utter failures of the BJP Government, people are paying a huge price,” he said.
