GMC Employee, Nurse Among 25 More Test Positive In Kashmir

Srinagar: Twenty five more people tested positive for novel coronavirus in Kashmir on Sunday and include an employee of Government Medical College Srinagar and one more staff nurse at Super specialty hospital (SSH) Shreenbagh, officials said.
Nodal Officer Dr Salim said that 367 samples were tested at Microbiology Lab of CD Hospital Srinagar and eight out of them returned positive for the pathogen.
Officials said that among them Kulgam reported 10 cases, Srinagar 5, Shopian 3, Baramulla and Kupwara reported cases two each while Jammu, Kathua and Anantnag reported one case each.
The Srinagar cases include three contacts of a COVID positive doctor from SSH, one traveler of Nehru Park and an employee of GMC Srinagar, they said. The other cases include two from Shopian, contacts of previous patients admitted in JLNM Hospital Srinagar while another is staff nurse from SSH here, a resident of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Dr Saleem, nodal officer said traveler of Nehru Park had traveled from Jammu by road and was intercepted by Police following which he was sampled at TRC and taken into Quarantine at Nehru Park. He is basically a resident Hidi Kupwara, he added.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura Professor Farooq Jan told GNS that three out of 685 samples tested at the hospital’s virology lab came out to be positive. They include 45-year-old man from Shopian, 50-year-old from Kanlibagh Baramulla and a 20-year-old youth from Gonipora Handwara in northern Kupwara district.
