Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said an unidentified militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter with joint team of police, army, and CRPF at Beighpora Awantipora, the home town of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen operational chief commander Riyaz Naikoo.
“So far 01 unidentified (militant) killed. Operation going on. Further details shall follow,” police tweeted. Police had previously said a top militant commander was among those trapped.
Earlier, police asked some media channels to “hold their guns” regarding encounter at Beigpora Awantipora
“Operation at Beigpora Awantipur is going on. Any Speculative reporting unconfirmed stuff having law and order bearings is highly irresponsible on the part of some channels,” police said in a tweet. “They are advised to hold their guns please,” it added.
