JAMMU MAY 01: Acting swiftly on the basis of specific information/Complaint regarding hoarding of essential items like masks, sanitizers, surgical gloves worth Rs 40 lakh in the premises of M/S Bharat Grand Banquet Hall in Greater Kailash area, a joint team comprising of Tehsildar Bahu, Rohit Sharma, Executive Magistrate, Inspector Legal metrology Department and Police raided the premises of said Banquet hall situated at Greater Kailash on the directions of SDM Jammu South, Shrikant Suse.
Owner was not able to produce permission for hoarding of essential stocks nor was any licence for such commercial activity obtained by the said Banquet Hall owner. M/S Jai Shree trading company of Kanak Mandi claimed the ownership of products but could not produce any papers related to specified Goods under commercial taxes registration. The total cost of the goods recovered so far is approximately 40 lakh rupees.
Legal Metrology team led by Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology Jammu seized the stocks for violation of Packaged Commodities Rules as MRP was tampered on hand Sanitisers and masks were without MRP. Concerned Magistrate and police sealed premises of the Banquet hall for illegal activity /violations of orders of the DM and necessary case was registered against the offenders.
